Project Goals: Make as much public Tape Art as possible and introduce and experiment with Tape Art as both an art medium and an education medium in as many environments and communities as possible.
Project Outcome: For six months we drove across the country making murals and working with every population who could hold a roll of tape. We covered 29,000 miles and did Tape Art projects in 40 states. When we arrived at each mural location, we drew for 24 hours straight, rested for 24 hours, removed the mural and then got back in the car and hit the road again.
Project Reflections: We made a lot of art in a short amount of time.
We also quickly discovered that there was no environment in which Tape Art could not serve a purpose. Every community we worked with - classrooms, special needs classrooms, psych wards, correctional facilities, and community centers - provided more evidence for Tape Art's accessibility and the benefits of collaborative art-making.
Project Details: The silver Corolla above, complete with ladders, carried us the entire way.
