As an art medium, Tape Art is accessible to populations with a wide range of physical and learning abilities. The tactile and spacial mode of image-making can reach a different type of learner that may struggle in a traditional classroom setting, and the collaborative element allows participants to help each other, capitalize on and celebrate each others' strengths in the drawing, and push through any challenges together.
Over the years we have had the pleasure of working with just about every special education population out there, and have found Tape Art to be medium accessible to all. In Tokyo, Japan (above) we ran a workshop in which we experienced participants with a range of abilities working together in the same space. In New York (below)a group of participants got the opportunity to draw in the Police Headquarters.
